Wild Wookey FAQ

The age range is 14 plus. Anyone under 18 must be accompanied by their legal guardian/parent. There is no maximum age.

The normal group size is six on weekdays, but we can take up to ten people at the weekend. We can arrange tailored sessions for larger groups with a little bit of notice. Talk to us and we'll try and make it happen for you!

We cannot accept participants with any of the following:

• Pregnancy
• Whiplash
• Epilepsy
• Heart conditions, e.g. Angina
• Acute knee, shoulder, or ankle problems
• Attacks of fainting, dizziness or blackouts
• Recent surgery
• Anyone who is under the influence of alcohol or drugs (or we suspect is).

If you have previous sporting injuries (dislocations/fractures) please consult your GP before booking.

On rare occassions our instructors may make a judgement call that you are not safe to cave. Any decision of this nature will be based upon a risk assessment of the safety for the individual or the group. Their decision is final.

What time do I need to arrive?
For the 9.30am session – arrive at 9.15am
For the 1.45pm session – arrive at 1.30pm

A sensible base layer like you might wear to the gym, which allows you to move freely (e.g. leggings and long sleeve top). Jeans are not suitable. Make sure you wear clothes that you don’t mind getting dusty or damp. The cave is wet and muddy all year round.

It is a good idea to bring a change of clothes (just in case of bad weather).

Wellies are standard caving footwear and we recommend you wear these, however well fitting walking boots are also fine. You will need to bring your own suitable footwear.

Don’t wear your best white trainers! They will never be the same!

The cave is 11 degrees all year round, which may sound chilly but you will warm up quickly.

The maximum group size is 8-10 individuals, so yes! There is a strong possibility there will be people in your group you haven’t met! Meeting other like-minded individuals is all part of the fun and is quite often a highlight of the experience.

Nope! We just ask that you consider covering them with a surgical dressing before arriving or remove them for the duration of the experience.

Anyone with masses of hair (braided, dreadlocked etc.) which stops a helmet being properly fitted might not be able to participate.

We have on-site lockers available to keep your valuables safe. No money is required.

When booking or redeeming a voucher for Wild Wookey, you are booking and confirming this date with our instructors. Whilst we understand cancellations do occur, we have set the below guidance to assist you with your booking;

Date changes

We offer a one-time date change on all bookings (assuming this does not exceed a voucher expiration date) – this must be done 14 days before your booking date. After this time, we would be unable to alter your booking.

Cancellations

In the event of a cancellation, we are unable to refund your Wild Wookey experience once the booking is confirmed.

No Shows / Late Arrivals

We will be unable to move your booking to another date or time if you are late.
